You will need to setup a Github account, but if you do anything development related, you should be using Github anyway or are at least aware of how super awesome it is, if you aren’t, it is the perfect time to get familiar with it.
It has been put together by Karin Taliga (http://invistruct.com/) and she has also taken the time to convert Thematic to be responsive.
The new beta version is also backwards compatible so it won’t break old themes, you have to actually uncheck an option to allow for the new markup.
This check box can be found in the Theme Options (under Appearance in the WP Admin Menu), if you uncheck that box, you get the new versions features.
Make sure to back everything up when testing the new theme against existing child themes, I haven’t found major issues, but things are different in the new markup, so just be careful, after all it is still in beta.
I am currently using the new Thematic 2.0 version on my site http://scottnix.com and I haven’t found any bugs or major issues.
If you are wondering how I can post, the spam plugin locked me out a long time ago and I had Gene white list me, but I don’t have any admin privileges to do anything other than remove spam posts. ;P
More complex than the old one, this one is made for Thematic 2.0, haven’t had time to write up docs yet, but it is available for free. You can read more about it here http://scottnix.com/responsive-base-plus/
It’s back open for business and hopefully people will check back in. I appreciate all the work that you do on your themes plus answering questions here and others that I came to rely on code help through this forum.
Hopefully it won’t take long for people to find their way back.
